My Favorite Summer Skin Products

Summer is finally here and I am so excited to be finally outside with my little munchkin. When I think of summer, I think of the hot sun and at the same time, I start to think of my skin and how best to protect it. After trying many, and I mean maaaany, creams and sunscreens etc, I have finally found some that I am really happy with and are now my favorites.

First up: creams. I have had a hard time finding the right face cream for me, but I have finally found a great one. Last year while in NYC, I decided I would visit the Mario Badescu salon and boy was I happy I did. I highly recommend you visit it if visiting NYC. I had heard so many great things about their products and wanted to try them. Well, after a quick consultation with one of their skin specialists, I had a handful of creams and another handful of samples.

The verdict, I loved every single one I tried. I really did. My skin felt great and now a year later, my skin still loves their products. So, while in Toronto this past weekend I stocked up on and can't wait to try the product below! Highly recommended as well.

Sun protection is very very important and after experiencing some very bad sunburns, I now use it every day. A little while ago, I read Joanna's review on A Cup Of Jo about Josie Maran's natural sunscreen and figured I should give a try.

I really like it. I found that other sunscreens don't really, really absorb in the skin, but this one does. Totally worth it. It is available at Sephora, but not at Sephora stores in Canada unfortunately, so you will have to order yours online if you live in Canada.

For my lips, I use this Tarte natural lip sheer and it is pretty much the only thing that I use for my lips in the summer months. It has SPF 15 and with a little tint of color, I usually don't need any lipstick or lip gloss.

This is the newest item in my makeup bag and it is really awesome. This tinted moisturizer/foundation hydrates my skin really well and even if I layer it on top of my cream, sunscreen or another foundation, it works really well and looks really natural.

For my eye shadow, I love the one above and you can find it at Walmart and probably Shoppers Drug Mart as well. I think it is the perfect, light touch of colour for my eyes in the summer. Especially since I don't like wearing a lot of make up and still want to have a very beachy, simple look.

And the last thing, I use is the Annabelle, Beached Bronze Face Palette. I couldn't  find a picture of the one that I am using, but mine is divided in quarters and I have 4 different shades.

I actually like this one better, because you have more shades, but I like how it looks. It gives my face that final little touch like I have been sitting in the sun all day, which I can't do anymore for many many reasons.

I hope you didn't mind me sharing some of my make up choices and if you have any recommendations and suggestions, I would love to hear them.

What are your favorite summer skin products?

Have a great day everyone!

  1. Lovely round-up! I recently purchased a L'Oreal Lip Balm, SPF 15 in Caring Coral that I absolutely love, a slight tint that's just lovely. I also just had a bad experience with a Ombrelle sunscreen -- it just wouldn't absorb and kept flaking off!

  2. Great post. I use Aveda all year round. The toner, eye cream and face cream are a twice a day must for me!
