Over on Isabella & Max rooms, Janell made lovely trays, like this DIY tray with her kids as a Christmas present. Isn't it lovely? And who doesn't love a DIY gift? Especially for Mother's Day.
Here is my decorated version of a simple wooden tray. What I used:
-unfinished wooden tray, acrylic paint, paint brushes, decorative paper, glue
I painted the outer walls of the tray black and the inner walls gold.
I measured the inside of the tray and cut the decorative paper to those dimensions.
You could leave it as is or you could use a varnish to cover the paper with a protective layer.
Last week I wrote a post about cheap wall art ideas, and showed you this paper.
I decided I wanted a back up plan in case my mother doesn't like the first one. Personally, I love it. I think the second one is more my style.
Remember, you can completely personalize it, add pictures, hand drawn pictures, scrapbook paper etc. I hope you try to make your own decorative tray. Have a beautiful day!
I have a tray that I have been meaning to make-over. Still need to decide what i want to do with it. Yours looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara. I hope my mom will like it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful job! You used some gorgeous papers, I particularly like the second one. Thanks also for the shout out and all the best with your blog! Janell
ReplyDeleteI adore the second paper. If your mom doesn't like it, send it on my way:)
ReplyDeleteOh Beatrice, how lovely. The trays are beautiful is so many ways and not just to carry drinks and food (for breakfast in bed...hint hint to my husband).
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas. Thanks so much.

Janell- Thank you so much for stopping by. I am so glad you like it. Your trays were gorgeous as well. Love that cork board project.
ReplyDeleteCarol- I will keep that in mind. Maybe I should do a giveaway. Hmmm...
Desiree- Thank you so much for your compliments and leaving a message. It means so much to me. I hope your husband reads my blog or you have hinted to what you would like.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment. And if you ever end up making any of the projects, send me an email and I will post them on here. Have a great day!
They are both lovely!
ReplyDeleteWhere can I find decorative paper like the one with the flowers? I love that patched together look and would love to have some like that.
Hello Candace,
ReplyDeletethank you. I bought the decorative paper at Omer De Serres (in Canada), but you could probably find something similar at Target, Michaels or paper gift shops. Hope you find something similar.
Thank you so much!
