A Different Kind of Moodboard

Good afternoon everyone! Hope you are all having a nice start to 2012. I am trying to finish up some projects that I didn't get a chance to finish in 2011. New Year's resolution #1, don't start a new project before you finish the one you already started. Let's hope I can keep this one, since it would make my life a lot easier. Here is one assignment that I did finish in 2011.

Yesterday I shared my new header with you, which I am quite happy about. And today I will share a mood board that I put together, that is a little different than your regular design mood board. This mood board was one of my assignments for Holly Becker's Blogging Your Way ecourse, which I followed this past fall. Loved the class and cannot wait for the next one. It was an incredible experience and it deserves a whole post altogether, which I am currently working on. But in the meantime, I figured I would share my mood board now and spend some time writing a longer post about my experience.

This mood board assignment was to reflect what we envision for our blog. What do we want our blog to look like and how does it define our blogging and personal style. This is what I put together to reflect me. Plain, old, simple me with little burst of color and sparkle.

I incorporated elements that I had around the house and things that I thoroughly love and enjoy to look at. I love the beach, so a sand dollar and sea shell fit in. The japanese paper I included is from our diy wedding invitations that I made. The fabric linen also a leftover from my diy colette headboard, which I love and the linen also ended up being the background to my blog. Love linen!

A little coral and some twigs to give it a natural and earthy feel. And a few sequins, because I like to have some fun every now and then.

I hope you enjoyed my post and like the mood board I put together. I really, really enjoyed this assignment since it helped me so much in realizing what I wanted for my blog and for me. In the beginning, I was uncertain about my blog, but this assignment put everything into perspective for me and now I am quite happy with the layout of my little old blog.

Have a fabulous day ahead everyone!

  1. I love your moodboard. I think it's a great way to settle on one look that really and truly reflects you. It's so easy to get distracted by all the beauty and never really focus on a "look".

  4. Thank you so much for the comments. So glad you like it.

Tanya, there wasn't a technical side of blogging, but one of the teachers could assist you if you needed help. Amazing class though, can't wait until the next one.
