DIY Whale Pillow à la West Elm

A while ago I created a white and blue mood board, and found a super cute whale pillow at West Elm. I wanted to try making my own, and after having made a DIY British flag with fabric dye, I thought that it might work with this as well. I tried and this is the result. My version of the West Elm whale pillow.
Here is my whale pillow.
Here is the West Elm whale pillow.

This is what you will need:
A white pillow case (bought mine at Ikea for $10), a whale print out, iDye and a disappearing ink pen for tracing.
Here is the how to:
I cut out my image. Placed it on the white pillow case and traced it with my magic pen.
Since my pillow case was a thinner linen material, I decided I needed to put a piece of cardboard between the linings of the pillow.
Then you just start painting. I recommend a good brush, that doesn't lose hairs.
Here is the final result.
Its not the real thing, but I really love how it turned out. I could have darkened the blue, but I like the lighter version (gives it a denim look). What do you think? Do you like it? Don't forget though, that you could do any image and use different dye colours. You can have lots of fun with it. Give it a try!
