Hello Coral

Hello y'all! Today I want to share a couple of things that are buzzing around in my head. My mother's birthday is coming up and we have been chatting about doing a few changes to her place. She will be away for a couple of days and I hope to sneak in and do the work while she is away. I love surprises, so I hope she will appreciate it. It is mainly her bedroom that is in dire need of some TLC. She is a very picky lady, so I decided to make a mood board for a "client". And yes, I will be pretending that this is just for the blog so I can get a feel for what she thinks of my ideas. She doesn't read my blog, so I doubt she will see it, but here are my thoughts.

She is not a huge fan of pink, but likes red, so I figured since coral is so hot right now, I would go down that avenue. Here are some of my thoughts for her room redesign.

Number 1 is the paint colour I have chosen for her room - Balboa Mist by Benjamin Moore. I love this colour. It is a combination of a light grey and beige. I am looking to try my hand at a DIY tufted headboard. Here is the fabric (3) I am thinking to use and I will make some diy curtains (4). And last but not least, I will add lots of colour throughout the room with the different accents.

I really like what I pulled together, but most importantly I hope she will like it as well. Will keep you posted, but in the mean time what do you think? Would you like a bedroom that would look like this?

Mood board Monday

Storage is always an issue, especially if you live in a small apartment. So, when I saw this coffee table from West Elm, I knew it would be the perfect furniture piece for any small house or apartment.

Big Boy, Big Room

As the days go by or fly by, my baby is not a baby anymore and quite a rambunctious and adventurous toddler. He is so big and he thinks he can do it all by himself. Wow, I wasn't quite prepared for that one. He wants to play more and is curious about pretty much everything, from an exciting toy to a simple picture frame that he wants to check out.

The time has come to think about changing a couple of things in his room. We started to move things around and rearrange his room this past weekend and I figured I should pull a mood board to help me see things clearer of how I want things to look and where I want the room to go. He is very much into cars, trucks etc right now, so I figured I would create a moodboard to suit his interests.

This is what I pulled together so far. Nothing is ever set in stone, so we will see.

Gotta run, since my munchkin is trying to open the front door, but I will be back with a list of all the sources a bit later. Please tell me what do you think of this? Do you like it or not so much?

We have been having the most beautiful, sunny weather this summer. I hope you had a great weekend and some beautiful summer weather of your own. So, we decided to take a little trip. We had been talking of going to Toronto for quite a while, but always found an excuse not to. Well, we went for it. We talked about leaving our little munchkin with my parents. This would have been my baby's first night without us. Well, it didn't happen. When we got to their house, he wasn't himself, as if he knew what was going on. So, we decided that we would leave the overnight trip for another time. My birthday is coming up so maybe then.

I will share more about our little Toronto trip soon. We visited some great stores and found some great deals, more to come later. We were there for only a couple of days, but we had lots of fun. Can't wait to go back. 

Since it is Monday, and I am working on redecorating our living room, I figured I would share my living room mood board with you. What do you think? I am not sure I am quite finished with it, but I figure that I can keep the basics and change the accessories to change the decor. 

Believe you me, the paint color alone makes a huge difference in the room. Off to finish yet another project, stay tuned.

Guest Room Mood Board

I just realized that I did not share with you my guest room mood board. Before I started redecorating, I worked on this little board to jot down my ideas and see how everything would fit together. I am pretty happy with how things are coming along and interestingly I am sticking to my original ideas.

I chose my colors from the Japanese wave print I was asked to frame by my friend. I chose earthy colors, beige, blue, navy, white and added some beach and summer accents. I will reveal to you how the room is coming along really soon.

Lavender Mood Board

Hello my dear readers. How are you? I hope you had a great weekend and got a chance to rest. Last week I shared a blue and white mood board with you. Well, this week it is lavender. A dear friend of mine has been dreaming of lavender and I figured I would put together a little something for her.

I was trying to create an airy and cozy little retreat after a long day. This mood board is for a bedroom, where you want to hang out, relax and recharge. The colours are subtle, cool and rich, providing a tranquil place (which is what my friend said she wanted). I have also attached a list of all the sources for the items in the mood boards. Hope you like it!

Mood Board Sources

1. Paint is by Sarah Richardson Paint. The colours chosen are Lilac (SR24), Dusk (SR39), Amethyst (SR54) and Honey (SR65) . Lilac would be a very relaxing colour and could be used as the main colour. You could do it on all the walls or Sarah Richardson recommends that you do it on an accent wall in combination with Honey (SR65). I think it would look fantastic either way.

2. I got my inspiration for this mood board from this gorgeous headboard. It is so elegant and luxurious. I love the sophistication that the tacks add to it. The headboard is by Sarah Richardson Designs.

3. I love this embroidered twig duvet set. Once I had decided on the lilac wall colour, and beige headboard, I wanted something that was going to add a little detail and pattern. The grey and beige will complement the lilac colours. The duvet set can be found at Simons.

4. Sometimes we want to work in bed and catch up on our emails. The Arstid lamp will give you the necessary lighting for that. It also has an adjustable head, where you can easily direct the light.

5. Depending on the layout of the room, this  Pjatteryd picture set can be added to one of the walls of the room or above the bed. It will add life to the room.

6. Certain rooms will need a mirror to add depth to the space. This Songe mirror has a silver finish, which would tie in beautifully with our colours.

7. If you would prefer something gourdeous, here is a gourd table lamp. I know gourdeous isn't a word, but I just had to add it in.

8. This birch side table not only adds some extra shelving, but it will match with the rest of the soft features of the room.

9. Everyone needs extra storage, whether it is paperwork, blankets or clothing. This Hemnes 3 drawer chest will add that extra space to tidy up all the little things.

10. Every bedroom needs some fun Ikat pillows. These silk ikat pillow covers are adding a pop of colour to the soft hues of the bedding.

11. If you want to have a more subtle look and the pop of colour is too much, these Zanzibar pillows will be great. They incorporate most of the colours into playful bright zebra stripes.

12. Every room needs some flowers and this vase will add the bold contrast to all the colours in the room.

13. The curtains will add personality and set a calming tone to your room.

14. This karlstad chaise adds another sophisticated element to the bedroom. It is the perfect place where you can curl up with a good book and relax. The grey colour also complements the grey in the duvet.

15. The Adum rug will add a soft base to the room and be welcoming to your relaxing haven. We have one and it is beautiful and soft. Love it!

Blue Mood Board

Mood boards have been around for a while in the design world, fashion and interior design. If you don't know what exactly they are, here it is. Well, they are the planning sketches to help you pick the colour scheme, design style and coordination for your space. Think of it as brainstorming for interior design.  It usually starts with one item, (it might be a pillow, bedspread or painting) and coordinates all the elements in the room based on the colours and feel that you want the room to have.

Since blue and white are very "in" right now, I figured I would share some of my ideas with you. These are some of my favorite things. What do you think? I have attached a list, where you can find all the items in the mood board. Let me know what you think. Liking it?

1. When I started this room, I knew I wanted bold colours. I chose Sarah Richardson paint colours. The dark blue is called Convertible (SR 55), Eyelet (SR 33), Cotton (SR 15) and Oxford (SR61). I think doing the main wall the dark Convertible colour and accent wall Cotton would look amazing.

2. A very nice and clean white sofa, the famous Ektorp couch. Having the main wall the dark blue, it would make the couch stand out and be the focal point of the room.

3. I love this vase since it is clear, but has dark blue swiggly lines.  It is amazing how much influence these blue lines have on the whole design.

4. This large round mirror, makes me think of a captain's window, and I found it would match quite beautifully here.

5. Simple lines are also to be found in the Lack side table, and at $7.99 it really is super affordable.

7. When I saw these whale pillows, I knew I had to use them. The blue is so gorgeous and on the white Ektorp... stunning.

8. The pattern on this gorgeous throw made me think of nautical knots.

9. The natural capiz shell on this pillow made it the perfect addition. It adds the perfect natural element to the room. You could go with the white silk or another colour if you wanted to add a pop of colour.

10. Adding a little light on your side tables, is a lovely crystal glass table lamp.

11. For a decorative accessory, I chose these shell spheres that will add yet another natural feel to the room.

12. Lovely full light pendant, to give the room bright but diffuse light.

13. I chose a silver starfish bowl to add a different texture and something for displaying things in.

14. Everyone needs some storage in their living room. I chose this white 2 door cabinet, where you can hide away all your books and magazines.

15. The Lack coffee table will match with the side tables. You don't necessarily have to have the side tables matching or maybe you don't even want side tables for your space. Options.

16. I have chosen a rug that has some blue in it to ground all the elements in the room. It is made of recycled denim jute.


That's about it. What do you think? Do you like it? Doesn't it give off a beachy, fresh and relaxing feel? If it doesn't I failed miserably. If it does, yay!
